DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the 100th anniversary of black history month\nVirtual Chat with E’Jaaz Mason \nJoin filmmaker\, educator\, and Stanford Earth Systems Lecturer E’jaaz Mason for a talk that weaves together New Orleans history\, Hurricane Katrina\, and the power of community-centered storytelling. Blending historical context with lived experience\, Mason traces the city’s roots\, cultural resilience\, inequality\, and environmental risk\, then reflects on his family’s Katrina journey and its lasting mental health and economic impacts. Drawing from his role as cinematographer and storyteller on the HBO/Max documentary. Katrina Babies (2022)\, he shares how this work informs his teaching\, filmmaking\, and community engagement.
