SUMMARY:Wu Tsai Neuro Seminar w/ Dani Bassett - SRP Livestream Locations
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us for today’s Neurosciences Seminar. The seminar will be held in-person on the main Stanford campus with 3 satellite viewing locations in Stanford Research Park. \n🗓️ Jan 15\, 2026 \nNetwork cognition in a curious world\nDani Bassett\, PhD \nUniversity of Pennsylvania | Host: Michelle Hedlund (Neural Interaction Lab [Coleman Lab]) \nIn this talk\, I will describe a notion of network cognition that manifests in how we engage with the curious world around us. To do so\, I will draw together three lines of inquiry in mind\, brain\, and computation. I’ll begin with a line of inquiry into connective curiosity (“How do we connect bits of information as we walk about the world?”)\, then move into graph learning (“How do we build larger network models from those connections?”)\, and finally end in network control theory (“How is that model building constrained by the brain’s own connective structure?”). The studies discussed will span experiment\, model\, and theory\, and bridge human behavior\, neural representations\, and computational science. Together they frame a formal investigation into network cognition and motivate future inquiry. \n⏰ Time: 12:00-1:00 PM (PT)\nCome 15 minutes early (11:45 AM) to enjoy coffee\, cookies\, and conversation with the speaker and your colleagues (main campus location only) \n📍 Locations: \n\nMain Campus (in person): Gunn Rotunda (E241)\, Stanford Neurosciences Building\nStanford Research Park satellite locations:\n\n3172 Porter Drive\, Room 253\n3174 Porter Drive\, Room 140\n1070 Arastradero Road\, Room 211\n\n\n\nLearn about the SRP satellites » \nLearn more and get involved:\n\nNominate speakers for the 2026-2027 seminar series\nAbout the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Seminar Series »\nSign up to dine or meet with the seminar speakers »\nSee all upcoming and past seminars »\nSign up for Wu Tsai Neuro’s mailing list »\nJoin the #neuroscience slack channel »\n\n📅 Want to add all of the seminars to your calendar?\nDownload the calendar here or\, for live updates\, copy this link and use these instructions for subscribing to a public calendar: Outlook\, Mac\, Google Calendar.

SUMMARY:Wu Tsai Neuro Seminar w/ Randy Buckner - SRP Livestream Locations
DESCRIPTION:Good morning SOM Stanford Research Park Community\, \nWe invite you to join us for today’s Neurosciences Seminar. The seminar will be held in-person on the main Stanford campus with 3 satellite viewing locations in Stanford Research Park. \n🗓️ Jan 22\, 2026\nPrecision estimation of large-scale network organization in the human brain\nRandy Buckner\, PhD\nHarvard University | Host: Zaki Alaoui (Baccus Lab) \nThis seminar is co-presented by Psychiatry Grand Rounds | Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences \nHuman association cortex is populated by a series of large-scale networks. In terms of organization\, the multiple networks form an orderly progression that radiates outwards from sensory-motor networks to transmodal association networks that underlie advanced forms of human cognition. In-depth analysis within individuals reveals anatomical details including that functionally distinct networks are intertwined throughout multiple zones of association cortex\, raising questions about how they evolved and how they differentiate during development. Interestingly\, it was found quite recently that monkeys\, including the genetically accessible marmoset\, possess association networks that recapitulate many of the human features. These parallels provide an opportunity to connect experiments in animal models of large-scale circuits to clinical interventions in the human. Recent work has translated these discoveries to optimization of clinical care. Precision estimates of networks within individual patients are possible and provide opportunities to monitor dysfunction and to target specific networks via neuromodulation.
