1070 Arastradero – Zero Waste by 2030

Oct 23, 2025 | Announcements

Dear 1070 Arastradero  Buildings Colleagues,

The OFPM is asking for your cooperation in an effort to help Stanford University’s goal to Zero Waste by 2030 (90% waste reduction or more).

We will be removing desk side bins from all administrative areas and ask occupants to please use the centralized stations throughout your area to properly dispose of your landfill/compost/recycling items.

We are asking everyone to get involved by:

Disposing of all LANDFILL  items only into  the black landfill bins located throughout the building.  (Black Label)

Disposing of COMPOST items into the bins located throughout the buildings labeled compost. (Green Label)

Disposing of recyclable items into the bins located throughout the building labeled recycle. (Blue Label)

Impact:

The city of Palo Alto along with Green Waste has teamed up to promote an enforcement program pertaining to recycling, compost, and landfill waste. Going forward a Green Waste Company representative will be conducting random inspections of the large bins located in the enclosures outside of the building. They will be verifying if the recycling, compost, and landfill are being properly sorted and disposed of. There are specific percentages we must maintain to avoid fines. I included the proper disposal instructions above.  Flyers and stickers have also been placed on or next to all new bins located throughout the building. Would you kindly take a look at the information above and follow the disposal instructions accordingly. I believe working together we can eventually accomplish the zero waste goal. I appreciate your help with this very important task.

Have a great day.
