1701 Page Mill – Planned HVAC Repairs of AC-2 / October 27 – December 5

Oct 13, 2025 | Activities

Dear 1701 Page Mill Colleagues:

The Office of Facilities Planning and Management is performing major repairs to One Rooftop Air Conditioning Unit, AC-2, starting Monday, October 27th.  Please find details below.

WHAT: One of the Four Air Conditioning Units which serve the building will be off-line for major repairs.

WHEN: Monday, October 27th,  the repairs will begin.  It is anticipated that these will be completed in approximately Three to Five weeks.

WHAT TO EXPECT / SAFETY:

While 3/4’s of the building’s Air Conditioning Units will be operational, there may be some variation in indoor temperatures, cooler in the mornings and warmer in the afternoons.  Suggestion is to dress in layers, including a warm layer for the cooler mornings.

Keeping interior doors open will help to circulate the air, in Labs with Fume Hoods it is important to keep doors open to allow for proper ventilation.

PORTABLE AC UNITS:

Portable Movin-Cool Units can be set up to help meet the cooling loads in individual spaces; we will have these Units on-site.

Please contact the following contractors to set these up in your area, if needed:

*Condensate Water is a by-product of the cooling process and is collected automatically in a reservoir located in the bottom portion of the Movin-Cool Unit.

As a safety feature, if the reservoir is full, the Movin-Cool will shut off.

Some Movin-Cool Units will have a small plastic tube to discharge this water into a nearby sink.  Where sinks are not available, the reservoir can be emptied by the plumbers listed above or might have an axillary container, which they will empty.

Please do not try to empty these yourself, they will be heavy, and we do not want anybody to get hurt.  Please call the numbers listed above, instead.

END OF NOTICE

Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as we work to make these important repairs.
