3165 Porter – Domestic and Industrial Water Shutdown – Saturday, 4/4/2026, 5:00am – 11:00am

Mar 17, 2026 | Activities

Dear 3165 Porter Colleagues,

The Operations and Maintenance team will shut down the domestic and industrial water systems to support a School of Medicine contractor. The shutdown is needed to perform repairs to the backflow preventers.

Date: Saturday, 4/4/2026

Time: 5:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Impact: All sinks, including lab sinks, and showers will not have hot or cold water available during this time. All Men’s, Women’s, and All-Gender restrooms will be out of service. Breakrooms/kitchenettes will be affected by the shutdown.

Safety Impact: There will be no domestic water in the emergency showers/eye wash stations. During this time, laboratory personnel are not to work with corrosive chemicals, cause permanent tissue damage or severe irritation, are toxic by skin/eye absorption, or engage in any BSL-2 work that is not in a biosafety cabinet.

If you have any questions or concerns about this shutdown, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Ferdinand marucut, CMM
Assistant Chief Engineer – Facility Field Services
