3373 Hillview – Improperly Contained Biowaste

Jun 17, 2026 | Announcements

Hello everyone,

This week when our waste management team serviced 3373 Hillview they went to put waste in Room 214 and noticed that the biohazard bins were all open (lids up). The smell was so overpowering they could only handle a few seconds in the room. This is not only bothersome but a health hazard for our waste collection team and a violation of proper storage regulations. Storing biowaste in the chemical waste room was a concession their team made to help our researchers and increase their convenience. As such the use of this room for our biowaste is not a right but a privilege. Please pass along to all researchers and lab members at 3373 Hillview to notify everyone that the lids need to be closed unless someone is putting waste in the bins. Help protect and support the members of our waste team who are a vital component in allowing the continued research we conduct at the Stanford School of Medicine.

Thank you for your continued support in providing a safe and successful working environment for all.
