AI and the Future of Medicine

From Drug Discovery to Personalized Care
Artificial intelligence is creating new possibilities for biomedical science and clinical care. Join Stanford University Professor Russ Altman for a look at the major AI technologies driving these advances and what they could mean for the future of medicine.
Explore the latest impact of AI on drug discovery and healthcare, particularly personalized medicine. As the field continues to change rapidly, Professor Altman will discuss both the exciting opportunities ahead and the potential downsides we need to consider.
About the Speaker:
Russ Altman is the Kenneth Fong Professor of Bioengineering, Genetics, Medicine, Biomedical Data Science and, by courtesy, Computer Science at Stanford University, and a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI). His research applies informatics, data science, and AI to problems in medicine, with a particular focus on understanding drug action, efficacy, and adverse effects.
Dr. Altman holds an AB from Harvard College, an MD from Stanford Medical School, and a PhD in Medical Information Sciences from Stanford. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics and currently directs Stanford’s undergraduate major in Biomedical Computation.
This event is open to everyone who works in Stanford Research Park.
