Good Afternoon Colleagues,
The City of Palo Alto (CoPA) approved a permit to energize temporary power connection to the building from the newly installed utility transformer.
Facilities Operations confirmed temporary connection of building normal power to CoPA utility power this Friday, May 1st from 5am – 8am.
The Temporary Mobile Generator will be disconnected from the building.
IMPACT: All normal power will be off during this time. Stationary Generator emergency power will remain available.
SAFETY IMPACT: There will be reduced lighting and ventilation. Fume hoods may be inoperable.
The project activities scheduled for the coming weeks are as follow:
Week of 5/4/26 – 5/8/26
Clear out temporary generator power and distribution system.
Permanent Power Distribution Bus Duct System scheduled to arrive, Friday May 8th .
Week of 5/11/26 – 5/15/26
Installation of Permanent Power Distribution Bus Duct System.
Week of 5/18/26 – 5/22/26
Disconnect building normal power temporary distribution cables from CoPA’s utility transformer.
Connect building normal power to CoPA Utility Transformer via Permanent Power Distribution Bus Duct System, Tuesday May 19th , 6am – 4pm.
IMPACT: All normal power will be off during this time. Stationary Generator emergency power will remain available.
SAFETY IMPACT: There will be reduced lighting and ventilation. Fume hoods may be inoperable.
Building Notification will go out to remind building occupants of NORMAL POWER OUTAGE during SCHEDULED power transfer from one power source/distribution system to another.
